ECB forces BCCI's hand over tour schedule

I normally don't have too many nice things to say about English cricket. However, I normally don't have too many nice things to say about the BCCI either, whether it is about captain-coach issues or picking the coach or TV rights.

But the ECB has clearly won me over this time when it served the BCCI with an ultimatum, asking it to provide the tour schedule for England's tour of India next year. The BCCI is certainly not known for planning tours in advance and so the ECB's letter to Dalmiya (Why him? Why not to Ranbir Mahendra, the BCCI president?) effectively meant that the BCCI had to at least be seen as responding to the demand. So now, we will in all probability see the tour schedule announced on October 29th, two days ahead of the deadline.

John Stern rightly criticizes the BCCI for dilly-dallying but queers the pitch with his ending words:
Mr Dalmiya may be bothered only about television money but if only he could see the bigger picture. Come on Jaggu, get those dates sorted out. India v England; Freddie v Sachin; The Turbanator v, er, Gilo. Let's get it on.

Err, John. Did you mean this chap?
