The television rights controversy took a new twist when the BCCI declared that it was initiating new bids and cancelling the older tenders. Obviously with the Australia tests starting in a couple of weeks and the ICC making it clear that if there was no third umpire, there would be no tests, the BCCI had no option but to either get ESPN-Star & Zee to come to an agreement or scrap the allotment and begin all over again.
