    England's below average show

England only bowled 7 wides and 7 no-balls in today's defeat by four wickets at Kochi. This is obviously a below average performance from them, considering they have averaged 15 wides a game so far.

Not that the better performance helped. India have now won 8 games on the trot, which equals their previous efforts during the 1985 World Championship win and the 2003 World Cup.

I haven't been able to find any specific URL, but India also went past West Indies' world record of fourteen consecutive successful chases in one-dayers (between 1984-85 and 1986-87). The interesting bit is that on seven of those 15 occasions, the target chased has been in excess of 250 and four times over 275, including a chase of 299.

For the record, the series is now effectively over. Unless of course you're an English cricketer or an English cricket supporter or your name is Robin Uthappa or Venugopal Rao or Mohammad Kaif or Munaf Patel or RP Singh or (to some extent) Virender Sehwag or Ajit Agarkar.
