    Un(der)worked super subs

When Arshad Khan replaces Umar Gul at Peshawar after the latter has bowled three overs, and ends up bowling his five overs for 35 runs, it is plain and obvious that the substitition hasn't really worked. Then again, Arshad averages 12 with the bat while Umar averages 2. So perhaps there is a plan in there somewhere.

India picked Raina as the super-sub and there is very little chance that he will actually substitute someone, unless he comes on as the super-sub at the start of the innings, replacing say Tendulkar. Alternately, given that he is a superb fielder, it may not be a bad idea to confuse the Pakistanis by bringing him on as a normal substitute for someone and then play around with the rules like Australia did in the NatWest series.
