David Lloyd takes on the ICC

David Lloyd, known for his wit as a commentator and whining as coach, believes that England wont win a single test in this year's Ashes series. He blames it on the scheduling which sees tests in July, August and September and none at Headingley, which has the best wicket for bowlers.

Of course, he conveniently forgets that it isn't a given that even if the tests had been in May & June, England would have won every toss and gone on to win the game after bowling out Australia cheaply. Vaughan's record is hardly promising. In the 24 tests that he has captained, he has won the toss 8 times. A 33% toss record is hardly encouraging.

But while Lloyd is hopefully spot on with his prediction, the ICC's media release about England becoming #1 if it won 2-0 against Bangladesh and 5-0 against Australia really had be laughing my guts out. 2-0 against Bangladesh is feasible. 5-0 against Australia? You're kidding me!

I'm fairly sure they've joined Stephen Brenkley and Dermot Reeve.
