Giles lords over the blind men, Strauss reveals he isnt an insomniac

I've only partially recovered, six months later, from the news of Ashley Giles making the all-rounders' double. So it is perhaps quite indigestible that Giles is called a gem by Stephen Brenkley, who may have written that while enjoying Dermot Reeve's company. I suppose the fact that England's spin reserves are crappy does mean that Giles is the best spinner in England. After all, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Andrew Strauss talks to The Guardian about his tour diary, facing upto McGrath, his test debut, etc.

Mark Nicholas and John Rawling join Ian Botham in wondering out aloud "Where the %$#@ is Kevin Pietersen?". Steve James strikes a discordant note (might as well use that horrible pun since Strauss is mentioned in this post) while pointing out that Pietersen batting at #5 isn't doing him any good at all.

    Mike Atherton profiles Michael Clarke.

Andrew Flintoff tempts fate by declaring that in September, England would have hopefully won the Ashes.
