Brian Lara falls 199 short of double century

Not really a case to drop him, but it is interesting to see that after all his talk about New Zealand not showing respect for West Indies' cricket history, multiple world record holder, Brian Lara, has a highest score of 5 in four outings to the crease so far. The remaining three innings were 0 (first-ball to Shane Bond), 1 and 1 (at Wellington).

    This, after Tony Cozier reckoned
As history shows, the best from Lara does not necessarily translate into a team triumph but another double-hundred would not be out of place over the next five days.
Yet, given his tendency of late to come to the party just when it is about to be over (his quadruple ton was in the final test and so was his double century against Australia), you can never rule out a breathtaking knock from him.

Yes, he is undoubtedly a great batsman. Yes, West Indies has a proud cricketing history. For what it is worth Brian, New Zealand played their first test just one and a half years after West Indies played their first test. Ultimately West Indies' recent history gives us no reason to hope for a better team performance. Performance can be the only basis of expecting respect.
