Ranji Trophy final: Bengal v Uttar Pradesh

Amidst all the brouhaha over poor pitches at Lahore and Faisalabad, the Ranji Trophy has been anonymous. But not so for five days beginning from today, unless of course Karachi also has everyone livid or the game is absolutely rivetting.

Bengal and Uttar Pradesh take on each other in the final of the tournament. They both benefitted from the presence of their respective international players, Ganguly and Kaif. But Ganguly will not play in the final while Kaif will. Bengal's strength has been a formidable batting lineup while Uttar Pradesh have relied on their bowlers. So undoubtedly, if the pitch at Lucknow, UP's home ground, aids good cricket, the contest will be engrossing.

Last year's tournament was won by Railways. They beat Punjab in the final.
