    Facial hair competition: England v Australia

    Retro outfits and moustache challenge, rather than the actual cricket, were the highlights of the Twenty20 game between Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.

    Now it seems like Australia have thrown a new challenge at England in order to erase memories of the recent Ashes series. Messrs McGrath, Symonds, Lee and Hussey have begun sporting very significant moustaches in response to England's team-bonding exercise in Multan. See picture below:

    That said, this bit by Martin Johnson is wonderful to read for Giles fans like us
    On current evidence, any further attempts by Giles to grow some facial hair would leave him looking like WG Grace by the time he takes a Test wicket in this country, as bounce and pace are essential for a spinner who, essentially, doesn't spin it. There's nothing much in the pitch for the quicks either. If a batsman spots a bouncer he can duck, get up again to see if the ball has arrived, and if it hasn't, duck again.
