    Old dilemma: Jones or Read?

Ever since Geraint Jones replaced Chris Read in April 2004 at Antigua, only to watch Lara make a quadruple century, there has been a lot of debate in England about picking Jones over Read. It essentially boiled down to if Jones, the superior batsman and inferior wicket-keeper should be favoured ahead of Read, the superior wicket-keeper and inferior batsman.

Like I wrote about last week, we could soon see a similar debate in Indian cricket: Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Dinesh Karthik?

The Guardian has the views of two former England wicket-keepers, Jim Parks and a much better known Bob Taylor. In fact, such a debate would have taken place often in the 1990s, when it came to picking Alec Stewart as wicket-keeper ahead of Jack Russell.

Was Henry Ford wrong, after all?!
