    Zimbabwe lose to Australia

Australia won a limited overs game after five tries when they easily defeated Zimbabwe in a World Cup warm-up game yesterday.

The votes in our poll on how many games Australia would lose at the World Cup were fairly well spread. There were 20 votes for 0 games, 16 for 1 game, 41 for 2 games, 22 for 3 games and 38 for more than 3 games.

I'm assuming that all those who said 1 game were hoping that the game would be the final! :)

They could technically lose only one game in the group stages and go out before the Super 8. Admittedly that will require something quite spectacular from one of the European teams.

Worried about Bangladesh causing an upset? That's always been the group most likely.

Umm ... I don't think Australia's going to be the team to go out before the Super 8!

Group B is the football equivalent of the 'Group of death', much as I hate morbid metaphors! But I don't see Bangladesh causing trouble for Sri Lanka or India.

the team most capable of upsetting the applecart is Kenya.

My take is also that Australia will lose only 1 match, but I think its going to be the semi-final. They are way too consistent to go out before that and I also don't see them losing such a big final (despite their last finals failure).

Homer: do you say that because of their group, or because of the quality of the teams? Bangladesh are on a 7-match winning streak against Kenya, home and away.

Incidentally, two of Bangladesh's last three wins against non-Zimbabwe Test nations were against India and Sri Lanka.

Geoff - on the basis of Kenya's performance in the World League ( on wickets not dissimilar to the ones seen in the warm ups) and the group they are playing in.

On the other hand Kenya is pitted against two of the canniest skippers in Fleming and Vaughan :)
