Ian Butler left out by New Zealand?

Mike reports that Ian Butler has been omitted from the list of contracted players for the forthcoming season.

Effectively this means he is not among New Zealand's top 20 cricketers. Considering that New Zealand probably has a player base of 100, excluding sheep that is, this means he must really be a hopeless cricketer. Then again, perhaps cricketing ability has nothing to do with it!
