    Phil DeFreitas retires from cricket

    'Daffy' DeFreitas, who has over 1000 first-class wickets, yesterday announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket at the end of the season, to join the newly setup book cricket league.

    After Steve Waugh's tear-jerking four act retirement saga during India's tour of Australia, it left DeFreitas as being the only active protagonist from the last time England won the 'Ashes'.

    For the record, he feels that England can do it this time. Mike Atherton, on why he feels DeFreitas sums up English cricket through the 1980s and 1990s.
