Amidst all the chaos, will India be graceful hosts?

Sambit Bal wonders if, given the chaos surrounding the lead-up to the India-Pakistan series, Indians will recall the affection shelled out by Pakistanis when India toured last year. Of course, I was a skeptic then and still am one. In fact, even if Madras gets Ahmedabad's test, I doubt if the spectators there will applaud the way they did when Pakistan squeaked through past India in 1999. The nature of the crowd would certainly have changed over six years.
