Steve Waugh plans cricket city and golf club in Calcutta

Steve Waugh, whose association with Udayan has made him a cult figure in Calcutta [does that make him a Cultcattan?], has a proposal to build a cricket academy, cricket city and a golf club in or around Calcutta. The Bengal government is impressed. I'd have thought a CPI(M) government would have opposed it. After all, profit would be the only motive for the venture and all that land, water and money could be used to improve Calcutta's infrastructure and the condition of its poor inhabitants.
