    Down to two now

Purely going by the batting display from India in the two one-dayers so far, India are now down to exactly two batsmen, Tendulkar and Dhoni.

Rahul Dravid will miss the remaining games in the one-day series due to an injury sustained while trying to catch Shaun Pollock off Harbhajan Singh yesterday. I did see that delivery, and despite a marked lowering of standards in his catching of late, I definitely thought he should have caught it.

VVS Laxman tours South Africa, more than three years after he should perhaps have. Sourav Ganguly (6, 3/29, 43 & 2/31 in a thriller against Punjab) will now be convinced that he's just a broken finger (someone else's!) away from a recall.

I personally hope Virender Sehwag injures something again. His fielding yesterday was atrocious, as was his batting. He's probably overweight by 10 kg (although I shouldn't be saying it). He doesn't even look like he wants to be out there. And he's going to be captain!

india wud be better off playing with 10 men than to play vvs. definitely dada shud have been picked ahead of vvs.

and veeru shud not be in the odi team - even for the wc. we can play dinesh karthik who showed some intent atleast. if groomed, he can get you some runs - definitely more than what veeru, raina and kaif are getting you these days.

agree with you bout dinesh kaathick ganesh. But please, VVS is a much better player than Gang especially when it comes to this SA pace attack.

Dinks is very promising. He's always got a raw deal, earlier because of Parthiv or now because of Dhoni.

Good point, Jagadish. The only batsmen who performed last season were Dravid, Dhoni, Yuvi, Sachin in ODIs.

Sehwag and Kaif have been mediocre with the bat. They are the passengers and are now getting exposed with Dravid, Yuvi, and Dhoni going through a slump. They need to shape up or be shipped out like Ganguly.

Sachin hardly played last season, arpit. Actually, the batting overall has been hopeless for over two years now, barring a couple of series (one-dayers in Pakistan & against Sri Lanka at home)
