    Wasim Raja passes away

I must admit that I've not seen too much of Wasim Raja play. But from what I can recall from memories 20 years ago, during the World Championship of Cricket in 1984/85, he definitely batted well and bowled some quickish legspin. I also remember him ramming into the boundary line fence during that tournament while attempting to field/catch.

I've heard my father refer to him often as being a very stylish player, and a thorough gentleman. Remember, that he refers to times when Pakistan had the likes of Sarfraz and Miandad to wind up the opposition!

He died today, having suffered a heart-attack while playing an over-50s game.

Previous player deaths in the last year: Fred Trueman, Budhi Kunderan and Fazal Mahmood and Mushtaq Ali.
