Flintoff out of action for three months

A terse three line media release by the ECB made it clear that Andrew Flintoff, who missed the Lord's test, was in no shape to play in the rest of the series against Pakistan.

Given that he isn't expected to be fit for another 12 weeks, the earliest he can come back is the ICC Champions Trophy, which starts in early October. Suddenly, a tournament that a lot of England players, journalists and administrators have repeatedly shown disdain for, becomes a tad more important! The Ashes tests start in late November.

Reactions from Scyld Berry, Andrew Strauss, Derek Pringle, Angus Fraser, Stephen Fay, Christopher Martin-Jenkins and Vic Marks.

Hey Jagdish, no take yet on the Sanjay Manjrekar article?

I wasn't able to get online over the last 3-4 days to offer a comment. But I certainly think Manjrekar is within his rights to comment on Tendulkar's attitude and batting. Remember that Manjrekar is no longer a player, but a commentator/journalist. The best way to make Manjrekar shut up is for Tendulkar to make big, relevant, timely scores.
