    Jayasuriya retires from retirement

Two farcical retirement related decisions in a span of a fortnight is a little too much for us to take. First, Shahid Afridi reneged on his promise. Now, it is Sanath Jayasuriya's turn.

Forty-odd days after announcing he was quitting test cricket, he made a dramatic U-turn and decided that he liked his previous incarnation. He is expected to join the Sri Lankan squad for the second test.

I can't see the Sri Lankan management being bold enough to leave Jayasuriya out of the side when he's in the squad, unlike what happened with Sourav Ganguly against Pakistan at Faisalabad. So he will play in the second and third tests, at Edgbaston and Trent Bridge.

Now, if you were either Upul Tharanga or Michael Vandort, would you consider packing your bags, grabbing your bats etc. and going home? Imagine, if Vandort and Tharanga made hundreds and Sri Lanka batted well (unlikely as it may be). Who'd Sri Lanka leave out to accomodate Jayasuriya?
