    Contradiction by Greg Chappell?

If we assume that DNA's copy of the email Indian coach Greg Chappell sent to the BCCI top brass last September is true, then he does contradict himself in the interview with Mike Selvey which is currently causing a huge hue and cry. In his email, Chappell apparently said
At no stage did I ask Mr Ganguly to step down from the captaincy of the Indian team.
But in his interview with Mike Selvey, he said
Much has been written and said, a lot of it misleading, but in essence I told Sourav that if he wanted to save his career he should consider giving up the captaincy.
So did he, or didn't he?

from the selvey interview transcript, it is obvious that he only suggested that he do so. Suggesting and asking him to step down are two different things.

So i dont see any contradiction here.

kinda agree on that one.. guess suggesting as a 'mate' to give up captaincy to save career is different from ordering as a coach... :-)) hahaha from this it looks like the only 'mate' doing the running down is Greg... :-)))

pete: He's just playing with words, isn't he. The Ganguly conversation was made out to be like an 'off the record' conversation, when that was clearly what his intention was in the first place.

beowulf: Well, there are different ways to handle different folks.
