Round up
Rahul Dravid has been
fined 20% of his match fee from the last game for slow over rates, while the rest of his team coped a 10% fine, they might have been a shade unlucky you have to feel, given the umpires did have to consult with each other on numerous occasions during our innings about the light, and the last drinks break was also uncharacteristically long.
India have also
called up Ramesh Powar, as cover for Harbajjan Singh, who injured his finger just before the Peshawar game. Powar has apparently been in tremendous
batting form this season. Jagadish calls him the "ideal bits-and-pieces player for ODIs" in
his Cricinfo profile.
I also remember him from the last time India toured here, nice little harmless creature he seemed back then, although I'm not so sure Shoaib was too big a fan of him! Yet Inzi (especially given
my prediction for him scoring a big, fat, ton on the 11th) would probably be licking his lips at the prospect of facing him again.
Elsewhere,
a great tragedy has bestowed the Cricket world with the news that HRH, the honorable King of Spain and MBE, will not be fit in time to join the rest of his England team mates in their tour to India.
England will consequentially have to do without the services of
TAFHCA's biggest hero and in arguably the cricketer with the most stylish and iconic pair of sunglasses ever, Giles also happens to be, for good measure, the best spin bowler one can find in all England and Wales, so a big loss no doubt for the Poms.
Somerset's Ian Blackwell has been called up a replacement. For those who are not aware,
Blacky is a fat, adorable, left arm trundler who can smack big blows down the order, recently he managed not to disgrace him self with his performances against Pakistan.
His favorite films are "Happy Gilmore" and "The Green Mile", and he likes best to be dressed in "jeans" since they are as "comfy as bananas". To find out more about this strapping young lad from Chesterfield, pop over at
his very own website.
