    Ganguly to skipper India?

Given that vice-captain Sehwag is unwell and likely to miss the first test, and skipper Dravid missed the practice session because of fever, India could actually end up going into the Delhi test without two out of their three best batsmen, and the only ones who managed to bat for a length of time at the MA Chidambaram Stadium last week.

So now the burning question is "Who will captain India if they're both unfit?" Will it be the deposed Ganguly? Will the great Anil Kumble finally lead India in a test match, his 99th? Will it be Tendulkar, who handed over the control to Ganguly five years ago?

We'll find out tomorrow around 9 am IST!

Meanwhile, there're a few milestones up for grabs this test. Tendulkar is driving his fans crazy, not having made century #35 after he got to #34 a year ago. Chaminda Vaas is two wickets short of 300 test wickets, half what Murali has (!). Rahul Dravid is 74 runs short of 8000 test runs. Mahela is two short of 100 catches.

Looks like Mohandas Menon's position is in danger, what with your milestones reporting

Haha. Most of what I said is in the public domain. I am not sure if anyone reported Mahela approaching 100 test catches though!

And a big well done to the current Little Maestro on breaking Suni Gavaskars (still *THE* Little Maestro to me) record with his 35 test century.
