    Exit Laxman?

While VVS Laxman may finally have to say good-bye to a one-day career, in spite of a couple of good knocks in the Challenger Trophy, Sree Santh, who impressed with his fast-medium bowling in the tournament has been included in the squad for the first two one-day internationals against Sri Lanka. Of course, it is highly unlikely that he will play either of those two, but if the selectors are consistent and do believe in his ability, he should play in a game or two at some point of time during the series against Sri Lanka or South Africa. Ganguly and Kaif are excluded for injury reasons.

Sachin Tendulkar was also included in the side in spite of not really setting Mohali alight, finally ending a six month break from the game due to the most talked about elbow in India. Hang on, make that the most talked about elbow in India excluding Kolkota!

Zaheer Khan has been left out in spite of a decent showing in the tournament. It is unlikely that his one-day career is up, but you have to wonder about why he bowls so hopelessly in one-day finals. Thankfully Venugopal Rao, Suresh Raina and Jai Prakash Yadav are persisted with while Gautam Gambhir gets a fresh opportunity to prove that he can partner Sehwag in one-dayers as well.
