    Hating Aussies and reliving 1987

Geoff Lawson seems convinced that the English crowds have been at their most anti-Aussie since 1981. I'm quite surprised it has taken them so long. If a team starts whipping every other team, I'm fairly sure they will be hated very early and very easily.

Yet another NatWest offering, after the NatWest Series got over, it is time for the NatWest Challenge. Australia made 219/7 and England were 85/0 in 19 overs when I last checked the score. Amazingly enough, this means that Trescothick and Strauss have managed to get some runs.

In 1987, MCC played a Rest of the World side in a match to celebrate the MCC's bicentenery. Sunil Gavaskar had announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket, including book cricket after the game. He made 188, the first time he made a century at Lord's. Some of the players involved in that game relive the action. Was this game considered a first-class game, by the way?
