Breaking/Brief news

    December 17, 2004

At Chittagong, Ganguly decided to bat first this time. Gambhir and Dravid not only consolidated after the early loss of Sehwag, but also scored at a decent rate and tormented Bangladesh. India ended on 334/2 with Tendulkar looking in ominous touch. He is 64 runs away from hundred #35 and 121 away from 10000 test runs and joining Gavaskar, Border, Steve Waugh and Lara (in order of getting past the landmark).

For the first time since Feb 22, 2002, an opening batsman not named Sehwag scored a century for India. After scoring a duck in Dhaka, Dravid also got into the groove with his 18th Test century - now he has a hundred in all Test playing countries. Langer has 21 Test 100s and Dravid has 18 - something is rotten in the state of Denmark!
