Breaking/Brief news

    December 16, 2004

Australia recovered from 78/5 to 357/8 at stumps thanks to a superb stand betwen Gilchrist and Langer on the first day of the WACA test. Gilchrist made a typically ridiculously fast-paced [in the context of the game at that point in time] half-century while Langer was unbeaten on 181 at stumps. Shoaib and Sami had taken all the first five wickets after Pakistan had won the toss and sent Australia in on a typical Perth wicket.
