Breaking/Brief news

    October 19, 2004

Glenn McGrath's performance in the Madras test where he got 0 wickets for 92 runs in 27 overs is easily among his worst performances in a test. This is in fact only the fourth time he has gone wicketless in a test after bowling in both innings. The last occasion where he got no wickets after bowling twice in the game was against West Indies in 2003 where he got 0/64 in 36 tight-fisted overs. He was also at his best Uncle Scrooge behaviour once again v/s West Indies in 2000 getting 0/25 in 25 overs. We need to go a decade back to the 1994/5 Ashes where he leaked 101 runs in his 29 overs without troubling the scoreboard operator. Effectively, McGrath bowled his worst in a decade. I hear the sound of Shane Watson's boots being thrown out of the window!
