Breaking/Brief news

Murali seems bent on inviting the wrath of the ICC. In an interview to the Sydney Morning Herald, Murali claimed that the Sri Lankan board hadn't told him anything about not bowling his doosra and hence he would continue to bowl it. This is surely going to get the ICC working overtime on how to manage this crisis. I am fairly sure they will not risk going loggerheads with the Sri Lankan board and Murali by banning him if he bowled the delivery. At the same time, they have their own processes. Heath Streak is obviously out of his mind when he says that all of Murali's obtained with the doosra must be removed from his records.

So who got the wickets Heath? Removing entries from records isn't the solution. The solution is in coming up with a meaningful law on what constitutes a chuck, define a proper procedure on who can call a bowler for chucking and what action needs to be taken by the team, player and board concerned.

Harsha Bhogle compares and contrasts the reactions to Lara's and Murali's records.

Steve Waugh writes about the people he met at the Laureus awards.
