Zaheer Khan on verge of 10-fer

Zaheer Khan, currently out of action for India and playing for Worcestershire, has taken all nine wickets in Essex's first innings at Chelmsford.

If he gets either Rohan Bopara or Darren Gough out, he'll join a select list of those who've taken all 10 wickets in a first-class innings. Essex actually collapsed from 117/0 to 186 all out 186/9!

In fact the last such instance was by an Indian pace discard as well, Debasis Mohanty for East Zone against West Zone at Agartala in January 2001.

He's only 27. Does he have it in him to make the selectors have a re-think?

Reports from The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, Sky Sports and the ECB website.

Well, Steven Davies (apparently the next big thing in English wicketkeeping) dropped Gough and then Ravi Bopara and Gough really got stuck into Zaheer. Not that it will make any difference to the result.

Did Steven Davies drop Gough off Zaheer? Oh damn!
