    A unique protest

I had a real laugh at this. In protest against the stump microphones volume being turned up a few times during the recent Australia-South Africa series, the Australian team decided to plug sponsor names during play in the ongoing test against Bangladesh.

This was obviously to force the broadcasters into turning down the volume of the stump microphones since broadcasters would not want free advertising to happen! What Adam Gilchrist said
Get one for the boys at Travelex!
    Phone home on 3 Mobile
Plenty of energy ... from a ... Milo energy bar
    Lovely prank!

Of course, I don't quite agree with the notion that stump microphones must be kept off. If the players are sledging left, right & centre, in offensive language, then I suppose the public do have a right to know how their idols are behaving.

If I were a broadcaster, I would ask Travelex to pay me money to keep them turned up :-) Now that's a true BCCI-ish thought!

worma: Hahaha. The problem is if the cricketers are smart enough, they begin to plug the competitor products every now and then, which sort of screws up the sponsors & the broadcaster's ploys :)
