Breaking/Brief news

    Stop the hype, please

Everyone seems to be talking about Sehwag and Kaif, when they talk about India's ODI cricket. I think it is slightly unwarranted to blame Sehwag so much, although I agree Kaif is worse off. Infact, I belong to the sect who feel that Kaif should be dropped - not permanently, but a temporary drop (not rest) to help him get his touch back. Coming back to Sehwag, its so unfair to ask for his head along with Kaif's. I think, the pressure on Sehwag is more from the foreign journos - an outside way to help their own teams. I would welcome Sehwag taking a break, just to stay away from hectic schedules and that's it and not for any pressure of non-performance.

4, 26, 15, 26, 7, 67, 5, 27, 30, 77* - These are his scores in the last 10 ODIs and he averages 31.56 in those games compared to his overall average of 31.6. Even I would love to see him score more runs, but he certainly doesn't deserved to be talked about in the same vein as Kaif.

And in Tests too, he has missed his customary first Test hundred only for one series and that doesn't mean that he is suspect in Tests against the faster bowlers on pitches with a bit of bounce on it. If so, how do you explain his exploits in Pakistan and his runs in England and even in Australia?

Sesh: The other problem with Kaif, as opposed to Sehwag, is that Kaif doesn't even seem capable of buying a run. Sehwag does make the irritating 20s. But not Kaif. Sehwag's average of 26 is definitely unacceptable, which is why he will sit out at Indore. I only hope there is transparency enough to suggest that he is effectively being dropped, rather than rested.
