Australia v South Africa: The sequel

Mark Boucher's comments about crowd trouble in Australia where he exhorted South African crowds to give the visiting Australian side a tough time have touched a raw nerve. Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer first played down the banter. Now it is the turn of Australia's coach, John Buchanan, to play down the war of words, claiming that Australia's disciplinary record was "pretty well exemplary".
Our record over the last while has been pretty well exemplary, with just the odd incident, and we hope to leave the tour unscathed.
Of course, he forgets the fact that three out of the four players/officials reported in 2006 are Australian and the last two years have seen more than an "odd incident" involving Australia's players. In 2003, 2004 and 2005, quite a few Australian players have been hauled up.

The only saving grace, as far as Buchanan's statement is concerned, is that on a lot of the occasions, they've been let off with a pat on the wrists, a punishment ridiculously disproportionate to their actual actions on the field. Of course, the fact that a lot of the time, Australia's players rarely make the trip to the referee's room in spite of not exactly conforming to the spirit of the game.
