    Sourav Ganguly appointed captain

Sourav Ganguly has been reinstated as India's captain for the triangular tournament in Zimbabwe also involving New Zealand as well as the test series against the hosts.

At this stage, I am not quite sure what impact India's loss to Sri Lanka had on the decision. But I think this is the right choice for Indian cricket, provided Dravid had been told when he was named captain for the one-day series that this was a temporary appointment. Like I said a few months ago, Ganguly does deserve a place in the side.

Frankly, I do think too much is being made out of Ganguly getting the job for only this one tour rather than be named captain till the 2007 World Cup. I cannot remember the Indian selectors naming a captain for anything more than a tournament.

Arjuna Ranatunga seemed to have some inside information. Rahul Bhattacharya wonders about the temporary solution. Bengali newspapers knew about it yesterday. I'm amazed Lokendra Prathap Sahi didn't write about whether Ganguly's left nostril had grown in size overnight.

The selectors had a 2hr debate on the captaincy issue and then "unanimously" decided on Saurav..blah;) ...Seems like an inside job of that SOB jaggu dada again
