    Shut up Ashley

Shortly after England's defeat at Lord's, the English media turned their guns on Ashley Giles. There were reports suggesting that he would be passed over in favour of Collingwood for the second test at Edgbaston. An obviously distraught and demoralized Giles wrote in his column (well, at any rate it appeared with his byline!) defending himself and his bowling, boldly declaring that he was not Shane Warne.

Tell us something new, Ashley. You couldn't possibly ever be. For starters, you aren't charismatic enough to get into trouble so often. You aren't Aussie. Perhaps more importantly, you can't hold that thing made of wax which is used in case of an electricity failure a candle to Warne's bowling prowess.

His rant hasn't exactly increased his fan-following among the blogging community.

It was a totally stupid outburst, full of self-pity. He should have just got on with his life and focussed on getting his bowling right. Now life gets complicated for him with Paul Collingwood's inclusion because the weather has not been great. There is now a realistic chance that he could be left out for the second test.

At least that will give him enough time to work on his writing skills.
