    Farewell to the master

In a beautifully poignant piece, Mark Nicholas bids goodbye to Richie Benaud, who is unlikely to do commentary in England in the near future since Sky TV, which isn't a free-to-air channel, has the rights for the next few years.

Benaud was recently voted England's favourite cricket commentator recently in a poll conducted by Wisden Cricketer and Cricinfo. He got substantially more than chwenty chew percent of the vote!

The ECB's decision to award the rights to Sky Sports came under a lot of scrutiny and criticism by cricket watchers and media commentators. Giles Clarke, of the ECB marketing committee, defends the board's decision.

Previous stuff on Richie Benaud here: An interview, renewal of contract and Benaud's World XI of the century.
