Domestic cricket competitions reach finale in Australia and India

Twenty seasons after New South Wales defeated Queensland by one wicket, they did it again to win the Pura Cup. Queensland have now lost in their last three finals. NSW were hardly affected by Brett Lee's absence. Nicholson and Bracken, one of who would surely have been left out to include Lee, took 15 wickets and scored 24 runs between them. New South Wales' heroes of the 1985 win were Steve Waugh (yet to make his test debut), John Dyson, Imran Khan and Peter Clifford. Seems like five generations ago, doesnt it?

India's Ranji Trophy neared its conclusion as Punjab and Railways triumphed in low-scoring semi-finals to fight it out in the final of the Elite group. The Plate group semis involving Haryana & Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh & Services are still underway.
