Breaking/Brief news

    June 18, 2004

Repeating their famous win over West Indies in 1969, Ireland's bunch of amateurs chased down 292 to defeat the West Indies at Belfast. Lara batted at #8 and this obviously implied the game wasnt taken seriously. But the fact that the WI bowling attack of Bradshaw, Lawson & Rampaul couldnt restrict Ireland must surely be a cause for worry. This surely must be the nadir for West Indies & Lara. He had threatened to quit as captain if WI hadnt won against Bangladesh. It remains to be seen what he threatens to do now.
