    Inspite of Kaif...

India's victory yesterday was more fabulous than any of the earlier 16 chasing wins, as in all those games the batsmen were looking for a win and they reached them quite comfortably most of the time. This time, it was different. The batsman at the centrestage was one who was trying to show us that he can hold a bat. Kaif showed it nicely and the world has to agree that he can hold a bat. Its only that he can't score runs with that. After the heavenly innings by Dravid (who else?), Kaif made sure that West Indies came back in to the game. It was completely baffling as to how can an international batsman find the fielders so regularly, especially when all your team needs is a few singles to ease the pressure. The bowling also wasn't McGrathesque.

Though Lara confessed "neither team played particularly well", West Indies did their best by dropping the dollies Kaif offered and that was the only chance of a victory against a chasing Indian team. But, by some miscalculation by nature, Kaif scored the winning boundary in the penultimate ball of the day when it should have been done atleast eight deliveries ago. Hence, this was probably the best of the 17 successive chases Indians have had, as they did it inspite of their team-mate, Mohammed Kaif.

Well-said. It's ridiculous that he could not find the middle of the bat, even after spending so much time in the middle. India had their slice of luck, & sneaked to victory despite his dismal performance.
