    Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Damien Fleming, Douglas Marillier, Kumara Dharmasena, M Venkataramana and MSK Prasad.

While these above names are retired or have absolutely no chance of ever playing for their country again and most certainly never did what Jason Gillespie did on his birthday, there's a certain other chap who is currently on the sidelines, unsure of whether he'll be fit in time for the tests leg of the West Indies series.

    Happy Birthday, Sachin Tendulkar!

You have to admit, Cricinfo's style is remarkably consistent. Look at the opening sentences.

    1973
    The Little Master is born.

    1978
    An innovator is born.

    1971
A Sri Lankan World Cup-winner is born.

    1940
In Inverness, Scotland, an England seamer was born.

    1954
An Edgbaston folk hero is born.

geoff: Indeed. Like I've pointed out earlier, they really do need to keep that feature updated. There's no point if it isn't. For e.g. in the feature for Apr 21, it says about Venkataraghavan "Venkat officiated in 73 Tests and 52 ODIs before retiring from umpiring earlier this season." _Which_ season? Then it talks about Shabbir Ahmed "Sessions with Daryl Foster allowed him to return with a remodelled action." The actual latest news on Shabbir is that he has been banned for a year from December 2005!
