    Test Squad for WI tour

The test squad for the WIndies tour is out
Virender Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid (capt), VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Ramesh Powar, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel, Sreesanth, VRV Singh
Initial thought....not many surprises there - Powar was a surety given the way he's performed as well as the early indicators of the likely pitches, Kaif and Raina were the obvious choice for middle order backups, most others were automatic selection.

The choice of VRV over Agarkar may seem contentious, but Agarkar is not likely to be effective in test matches in these condtions - especially with his new restrictive approach to bowling. VRV himself is a debatable choice, for me he's an unknown quantity...but he has spent a lot of time in the Indian dressing room, and maybe the team management is aware of his potential.

:-) Yes he's funny. BCCI needs all its admins to shut up and do their main work.

It is actually a scary line. If Dhoni is seriously being considered as the reserve opener, then I reckon they need not have picked Romesh Powar at all and should have given Wasim Jaffer the backup off-spinner's job: After all, he has more test wickets than Powar (2 wickets, average 9, strike rate 33!)

and infact iirc, those wickets were at the caribbean...
