West Indies v South Africa run glut ends

The Antigua pitch must have been a real flat one and a great pitch for batting. How else could South Africa score at over 3.5 an over? Reports indicating that the Antigua test had as many as eight centuries are way off the mark. How can you exclude the bowlers?

There were a total of fourteen centuries scored during the game, six of them by bowlers. If you consider Gayle's triple century as three separate centuries, then we're talking of 16 centuries. If only Dwayne Bravo and Jacques Kallis had been a little more profligate, we'd have been talking of 18 centuries. Nicky Boje must have been a very contented man as he flew home watching "The Great Escape" in the in-flight entertainment package.

Meanwhile Ridley Jacobs, who retired last year, has let rip at Brian Lara for apparently being selfish about his own batting exploits.

What a knock by Chris Gayle! That guy is amazing. If only the bats in WI were a little more consistent as a unit! It would be a treat to watch them.

My thoughts on his knock on my blog...
