    England and India came close to blows over Mike Denness decision

    It is now revealed in a book written by the young Indian historian Boria Majumdar that the ECB and BCCI came very close to breaking off cricketing ties after several Indian players were punished by the match referee Mike Denness during India's tour of South Africa in 2001.
