West Indies were humiliated in yesterday's final at Lord's by New Zealand who just about pipped South Africa to the 2nd spot in the ICC ODI rankings. New Zealand managed 266 in spite of a horrible last 10 overs where they lost their last 6 wickets for 49 runs. Fleming, Astle, Marshall & McMillan managed a few runs with the bat while a costly Best took 2 crucial middle order wickets of McMillan and Oram and then Sarwan winkled out the lower order with 3 wickets.

West Indies started off cautiously and lost Gayle early. Yet, New Zealand's slower bowlers, Vettori in particular, kept getting the wickets. West Indies werent helped by some sloppy running between the wickets [and some superb fielding by the Kiwis] resulting in the crucial dismissals of Sarwan and Devon Smith. Vettori's 5/30 (including Lara for 30 just when he was beginning to settle down) ensured him the man of the match award while Fleming was the man of the series.
