Sri Lanka will very likely be without Sangakkara, Vaas and Murali for tomorrow's game against India. India look set to drop Balaji to bring in Zaheer. Sri Lanka are already through to the final. India need to win tomorrow to ensure that they're in the final. If India lose, and Pakistan defeat Bangladesh, Pakistan reach the final. However, if rain washes out both games, India will get through. Bonus points dont matter henceforth.
How many times has this Indian team frustrated us by not winning early games comfortably and relying on a last ditch effort to get through to the final? Think back to the triangular in Sri Lanka in 2001 which heralded Sehwag's abilty and got India to the final. Then there was the 2003 World Cup and towards the end of last year in the TVS Cup, where Sehwag tormented New Zealand again just before the finish line. I'm absolutely sure there've been other instances in the past as well.
I think tomorrow's game will be decided by how keyed up Sri Lanka is. It will be a tough call for them, but they're in the position of picking their opponents in the final. It could be dangerous for them either way. India have a knack of picking up the strings after the half-way mark in a tournament while Pakistan, given a glimmer of hope, easily have the ability to spoil the party.
