Breaking/Brief news

In a move which is bound to create shockwaves in English cricket, Mark Butcher has been omitted from the list of 30 probables announced for the ICC Champions Trophy. Mark Butcher, aged 24, is one of England's brightest young talents and has been a prolific scorer at the domestic one-day level for the last couple of years. NOT !

Butcher is 31, hasnt played a single one-day international to date. In 14 years as at domestic level, he has played 154 one-day games with an average of 27.5. He has absolutely no hope of figuring in England's 2007 World Cup squad. Well at least he really shouldn't have a hope, but you never know with the Poms. So why on earth are reams of newsprint or pages of text being wasted to discuss his omission?
