The ICC has come up with the ICC awards. This is the first effort by the ICC to institute its own awards. The awards will obviously have more weightage with players unlike the few hundred prizes which are given out by various sponsors and organizations all around the year. Obviously the ICC does need to ensure that the awards procedure is transparent and involves the right people, otherwise the current wave of positive feelings it is generating amongst cricketers will disappear.
